Majestic in form Confined to a ceiling A single leg taller than me But glued to the ground A stomach of beautiful, spotted patterns Faded from the fluorescents A dignified chin Unable to come down Large eyes to see the Savanna Replaced by glass Hind legs that would crush me If only in the right context Gentle vegetarian Iconic neck Rotting hide Always overhead Forever dead Forever here Ever near Not quite here 10/2/2017 0 Comments AMERICAN BUSINESSThis artistic representation frames myself as my 'unself:' a living embodiment of capitalism and American patriotism as business tycoon Carlie Jacobsen. These are the slides used in my presentation; each complete with the commentary from my note cards that I discuss when presenting each slide. Talking Points: SLIDE 1: Get pumped up outside room (push ups and crunches) -Enter room running around and screaming -Give massage to uncomfortable student (use much physical contact) -Introduce yourself, hand out business cards -Ask if someone is making fun of the name 'Carlie' SLIDE 2: "Your teacher is having me in today because she was a little worried that you guys aren't thinking about your futures... she wanted me to scare you straight!" -"I cam in today to educate.. (raise fists) --but why do I need to educate you guys?" SLIDE 3: "Because... your art school students!" -Quick (point) what's your favorite piece of art? Who's your favorite artist?" -The Vignellis are my favorite artists --All those great symbols of power SLIDE 4: "Somebody tell me what the benefits of an education through art school are?" --"Well lemme tell you what I think they are..." SLIDE 5: Nothing! -"That's right?" SLIDE 6: "Oh wait. I forgot one: NOTHING!" SLIDE 7: SLIDE 8: SLIDE 9: "What do you have because of art school?" -Average art student debt: $280,000 -75% are unemployed by a corporation upon graduation -"How do you feel about yourself?" SLIDE 10: "But you know what... most things people study don't matter, like, why do most people even go to school?" -There's only one practice of life that can save us... --It fulfills human's natural, base instincts that humanity is survival of the fittest in today's modern a SLIDE 11: SLIDE 12: -Ask someone what this is SLIDE 13: Capitalism provides better health because there are more choices than ever before (food, gyms, liposuction) -Every job has a benefit for somebody else -You can be the undoubtable best -"Freedom to consume all the shit you want" -"You feel happy when you curb stomp your competitor to the ground!" SLIDE 14: "All these companies CEOs are living proof of these ideals." -"They're happy people knowing they're the best, providing people with something they need by any means they see fit for any cost they want." -Discuss some of the companies SLIDE 15: SLIDE 16: "And OMG... Donald!" -"Raise your hand if you voted for this country's new lord and savior." SLIDE 17: "See, America is founded on great men like President Trump.. and all of you 'commies' are too blind to see it!" SLIDE 18: SLIDE 19: SLIDE 20: "You're all here through this man so don't forget and don't forget to thank him" -Talk about CMU being founded upon capitalist ideals and the negative effects his company has had on individuals and the city of Pittsburgh SLIDE 21: Talk vaguely about overall effects of capitalism in America SLIDE 22: Make your audience sing the national anthem -"GOD BLESS AMERICA!
